Summer special occasion style

Are you looking for something different for a special occasion this summer? From stylish jumpsuits to a-line skirts and figure flattering dresses, here is a round-up of distinctive pieces that will make you stand out on that special day.

The A-line skirt

It comes in many colours of from solid hues of pink, yellow or blue, to bold or more subtle prints or pretty lace and modern crochet. This season a-line is a pretty powerful piece that will enhance your silhouette and take you from night out to any summer events. The label Self-portrait, Available at Brown Thomas Galway has a stunning blue a-line lace and mesh skirt that will work beautifully with a more fitted or short top and high heels.

The elegant flared dress

Inspired by the 60’s the flared dress has received a modern makeover with pastel or bold colours and interesting embellishments and textures.  The shape and length will work well on most figures. The key is to style your chosen style with atypical accessories to keep the look modern and quirky yet elegant. Regis Boutique Galway has a beautiful pastel pink dress by Irish designer Aideen Bodkin. This dazzling dress will work beautifully with a bold chunky necklace and with more classic hues of black or nude court shoes or sandals.

The jumpsuit

Navy, classic black, cream, embellished or colour blocking the jumpsuit is an out-of the ordinary style choice for summer events. Choose one in a neutral shade and add a colour pop as a jacket or bright accessories or shoes. Warehouse is currently stocking a gorgeous French navy halter-neck jumpsuit, perfect with coral, pink or with cream and statement earrings or headpiece.

The Optical illusion dress

Peplum to flatter the waist line, side panels to create the right curves at the right places, eye catching embellishments on the neckline and sleeves to draw the attention; the illusion dress is smart and will do much more than just being gorgeous. It will enhance your silhouette and disguise what needs to. Fashion fusion has a pretty raspberry peplum dress that can be worn with either blue or accessories for some impact, or, with more muted colours such as nude, black or navy.
