It might be winter out but the spring collections are already arriving in the shops. From bright to black and white, sport styles to leather to minimalist, here are some of the key trends to look forward to wear this spring. Now is the time to start planning your next season’s wardrobe and step out in style.
This season designers have put a strong emphasis on black and white. Monochrome is easy to year all year round, suits all budget, timeless, and appropriate for most occasion: from office to a date night or yummy mummy’s duties.
Wear the black and white combo with a vibrant hue: pink, red, cobalt or yellow. Pair a pink blazer over a striped black and white top, a black narrow pants and two-tones black kitten heels. Or go all monochrome and clash the patters: small stripes with bigger stripes and block black/white accessories.
Hot, fun and feminine, pink is the anti-sad colour of the season. The brighter, the better. For maximum impact wear it with neutral accessories or with black.
I love this trend because it effortlessly elegant, wearable and so comfortable for work to school runs. A key piece of this trend is the short suit, which is very office appropriate. For work, wear the short suit with a blouse and low heels; coming the weekend, loose the jacket and pair it with a jumper slightly tucked in and a pair of fashion trainers.
The sporty dress is another staple worth wearing: A-line or shift style, it flatters most body types. Pair it with wedges, high-heel sandals or with comfy canvas sneakers and finish off with a cardigan or a tailored jacket.
Still going strong this spring, leather never goes of style, making it a well worthy fabric to invest in. For spring it comes in minimal shapes and rich neutral hues of brown, wine, grey or oatcake. Whether it is a military style dress, a jacket or a slit side skirt, you can buy it now, wear it now, right through the summer. Pair your leather skirt with a jumper high boots and coat worn open. Coming spring team it with a simple tee and sandals.
From Japanese inspired designs to India and Middle East influences: think shiny, beading, sequin and vibrant hues, making evening wear exquisite, and day wear interesting.
Back to basics
After a season of opulence, One of the main message from designer was return to basics. Minimalism, modern, and versatile. The white blouse, the trench coat, the navy blazer, pumps, the little black dress or denim jeans. Your aim is to get your basics right: flattering shapes in high quality.
Think bold and beautiful as classic stripes. Black and white, red and black, green and white, stripes with block colours, are just a teaser of all the combos you can create. The limit is your imagination. Have fun but think about what suits you. Balance your proportions and add heels if the stripes are bigger. Go clash by teaming vertical-stripe skinny pants with a graphic tailored jacket. Or keep it simple but classy and pair a stripe tee with cropped jeans and coloured jacket.
